A deep dive into the factors driving this year’s elections in Kansas, at both the congressional and state legislative levels, and what the outcomes in November could mean for Kansas politics moving forward.

 


 

Jonathan Shorman is The Kansas City Star’s lead political reporter, covering Kansas and Missouri government. Shorman has spent more than a decade covering politics in both states, including previously at The Wichita Eagle. He was part of a team of Eagle reporters who won the 2019 George Polk Award for political reporting.

 

Dr. Alexandra Middlewood is the Political Science Department Chair at Wichita State University. Her areas of expertise include public opinion, political behavior, gun politics, and gender. She is a contributing columnist for Insight Kansas, a Policy Fellow at the Docking Institute of Public Affairs at Fort Hays State University, contributes to the annual Kansas Speaks public opinion survey, and is the former President of the Great Plains Political Science Association. She earned her PhD in Political Science at KU in 2019.

 

Daniel Desrochers is the Star’s Washington correspondent. He covers Congress, the White House and federal courts with a focus on policy and politics important to Kansas and Missouri. He previously covered politics and government for the Lexington Herald-Leader and the Charleston Gazette-Mail.
