The prize was awarded during an interview with Mr. Kemp, who uses his own life with a disability to inspire others to achieve the impossible through knowledge, experience, vision, personality, and persistence. The Dole Leadership Prize is awarded annually to an individual or group whose public service leadership inspires others. Mr. Kemp chose to gift the $25,000 award to The Viscardi Center, a network of non-profit organizations that provides services that educate, employ and empower children and adults with disabilities.
