What is an Easter Egg Roll?
An Easter Egg Roll is a race for children to push an egg (hard-boiled or wooden) through the grass with a long handled spoon. The fastest to the finish line wins!

The Dole Institute’s Easter Egg Roll is inspired by the White House Easter Egg Roll, held every year on the White House South Lawn. This festive tradition began in 1878 under the administration of President Rutherford B. Hayes, and successive Presidents have carried it on to present day. Read more about the White House Easter Egg Roll here.
