Students are at the core of everything we do at the Dole Institute. As a KU student, you have access to opportunities at the Institute that give you the experience necessary to be the country’s next generation of public servants and leaders. From the Institute’s Student Advisory Board, to our civic engagement and outreach initiatives, historical research, and networking with experts and guests at the Institute, there are many options available to all students, regardless of major, schedule, or political ideology.
Getting involved at the Dole Institute is one of the most impactful decisions you can make while studying here at KU. Start your journey today by exploring all of what’s available to the student body.
Made up of like-minded KU students, the Dole Institute Student Advisory Board is united by common interests in community service, government, and politics. Together, the organization broadens our understanding of the U.S. and the world at large through discussions and events on all topics that intersect politics. Members have the opportunity to get involved in their community, cultivate their leadership skills, make new friends, and much more.
All members of the KU community are invited to join the Dole Institute at our programs and events. For students, even more opportunities are available to connect with alumni, professors, and other field experts in a variety of topics. Students are invited to join the SAB throughout the school year for Pizza & Politics—an informal, exclusive student program featuring in-depth looks at relevant issues over a lunch hour. Additionally, students have the opportunity to learn from our Dole Fellows about contemporary issues and topics throughout the academic year at our Discussion Group programs.
The Dole Institute offers a variety of awards and scholarships to students at the University of Kansas, including internship assistance, recognition for commitment to community involvement and public service, and more. Most awards and scholarships have a requirement for applicants to be a member of the Dole Institute Student Advisory Board.
The Dole Institute is committed to universal accessibility in all programs and resources. We are in the process of making all of our web projects fully accessible. An accessible version of the material represented on this site will be made available upon request. Please contact us at doleinstitute@ku.edu to request the material be made available in an accessible format, or for general assistance.
