The City of Lawrence is pleased to announce the date for this year’s Independence Day community celebration and fireworks, brought to you by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas in conjunction with the Lawrence Jaycees, City of Lawrence, University of Kansas, the Dole Institute of Politics, the Lied Center of Kansas and eXplore Lawrence.
The fireworks display will take place at approximately 9:45 pm on Sunday, July 3, at the Shenk Sports Complex, located at 23rd and Iowa streets. The Dole Institute of Politics, 2350 Petefish Drive, will be hosting family-friendly activities beginning at 5:30 pm. The Lied Center of Kansas, 1600 Stewart Drive, will be hosting live music beginning at 6:00 pm. Multiple food trucks and KU Memorial Unions will be selling concessions.
In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held Monday, July 4.
The Dole Institute will be open for visitation from 12pm – 9:30 p.m., with special outdoor activities beginning at 5:30 p.m.

5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.: Outdoor and indoor family-friendly activities, Kansas Veterans Memory Wall and special treats at the Dole Institute of Politics
6:00 p.m.: Tyler Gregory (stage near the Lied Center)
7:15 p.m.: The Black Creatures (stage near the Lied Center)
8:30 p.m.: Ellie LeBar (stage near the Lied Center)
9:45 p.m.: Fireworks (launching from the KU Shenk Sports Complex at 23rd and Iowa)
